Amy Johnson is the Fitness Director at FBC Fitness which is a full service gym open to the community. She is as passionate about health and wellness as she was 32 years ago when she taught her first “Aerobics” class. Amy teaches fitness classes ranging from cycling to dance to senior fitness and Pilates. When she’s not teaching, she competes in triathlons and coaches endurance athletes. She has raced in hundreds of endurance events, including the 2013 Age Group World Championship Triathlon in London, England and 2014 Age Group World Championship in Edmonton, Canada and 2015 Age Group World Championship in Chicago, Illinois. She has coached numerous athletes from first-timers to iron distance triathletes.
Amy is also the Head Coach of Rock Steady Boxing Hot Springs, located at First Baptist Church. She directs the non-contact boxing classes for individuals with Parkinson’s disease. Through her guidance, the program has sixty “boxers” and has an enthusiastic cadre of over fifty volunteers. Amy is the driving force behind the focus on improving the quality of life for the boxers and their families.
Originally from Russellville, Arkansas, Amy has lived in Hot Springs since 2000. She is married to AJ Johnson. She is the mother of two children Alley (29) of Oxford, Mississippi and Stefan (23) of Fayetteville, Arkansas. She is blessed to be called YaYa by her 3 grandchildren. Her idea of the best vacation would be climbing 14ers with her extremely fit husband in the Rocky Mountains where the air is thin, and the heart grows bigger!
I moved to HS in 2013 not knowing anyone. In 2016, I was going to run my first 5K with the Window Mart team so I went to the Spa Pacers Fall Clinic and fell in love with running and found the best of friends that seem more like family than friends.
The Spa Pacers are one of the nicest, most inspirational, encouraging and inclusive group I have ever had the pleasure to know. Absolutely best of the best people.
There is absolutely no group that I have ever been a part of that is more encouraging and supportive than the Spa Pacers. Whether you are a walker or a runner, fast or slow, you are welcomed and encouraged to participate. I love the Spa Pacers!
